Structural Engineer – 5+ Years of Experience

O&S Associates, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer with 7+ years of experience in structural/architectural engineering. Candidates should have a working knowledge of industry standard structural design programs, and design experience with parking garages. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills are essential.

O&S Associates, Inc. is a full-service Engineering and Architectural Design firm that is recognized for expertise in building design and restoration. We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our PA, NJ, or DC office. The ideal candidate has a background in design of new structures and restoration/retrofit of existing structures. The position requires the ability to oversee and manage lower-level engineers and guide decision making on a project-by-project basis. The Senior Engineer will be involved in many phases of design work including condition assessments and reporting, studies, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and construction administration. Candidates should be familiar with the assessment, design, and construction of reinforced concrete systems, steel structures, masonry, facades, roofs, plazas, and waterproofing systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead structural engineer assigned to the design of new structures
  • Review work product, provide quality control reviews and provide guidance to lower-level engineers
  • Coordination of design work with other in-house disciplines including architects and MEP engineers
  • Preparation of Construction Documents including drawings, specifications, design narratives and calculation packages
  • Perform structural code reviews
  • Manage project workflows. Delegation of tasks to lower-level staff.
  • Provide guidance to Project Managers on structural solutions, challenges, and best practices
  • Compare multiple design solutions and provide insight on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and industry standards.
  • Design post-tensioned and precast concrete parking structures.
  • Design deep and shallow foundation systems
  • Construction administration including reviewing shop drawings, submittals, payment requests, and change orders
  • Attend project meetings and jobsite visits. Ability to travel locally and to nearby states.
  • Assist with developing feasibility reports and similar studies
  • Provide restoration design solutions for garage repairs, plazas, and building envelop as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License
  • 7 to 15 years of experience with new structure design projects
  • Ability to manage work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Ram Structural System, ADAPT, RetainPro, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with engineering programs such as Risa, STAAD, ETABS, StructurePoint programs (PCA) is a plus
  • Self-motivated and ability to delegate and manage lower-level engineers assigned to project work

Salary: $85,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
