Exterior Envelopes

Our team of engineers and architects specialize in solving and preventing performance problems associated with the building envelope

We can help you identify and resolve weather-tightness and energy-efficiency issues related to your building’s façade, roof, foundations, fenestrations, and glazing. We provide expert analysis in the assessment and design of all exterior envelope systems for commercial, industrial, and high-rise residential buildings. We believe our strategic approach uncovers practical design options that provide flexibility to the client’s financial requirements.

O&S Associates has several New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) Qualified Exterior Wall Inspectors (QEWI) on staff and has filed approximately 500 Façade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) reports in the last two cycles. The FISP reports are required to be filed for all buildings over 6 ½ stories high every five years in a staggered cycle. We are experienced in every type of building and wall system, whether historic, contemporary, solid masonry, cavity wall, stone, precast, curtain wall, metal panel, EIFS, or a combination.

O&S has been conducting up-close façade inspections since 1996 for public and private entities. We perform this service from swing stage scaffolding, boom lifts, and rope access to examine exterior wall and façade components, such as:

  • Brick
  • Concrete
  • Natural Stone
  • Terracotta
