O&S was retained to provide Engineering services for the stabilization of the Roof level helipad at St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital’s Dillon Parking Garage in Jacksonville, FL.

Three exterior steel columns along the east elevation of the helipad were constructed atop the existing concrete columns of the parking garage framing and were situated across the parking garage expansion joint. The three steel columns were deflected out of plumb due to the thermal expansion and contraction movement experienced along the expansion joint. O&S carried out a thorough condition assessment for the helipad and developed a structural stabilization program of the Helipad.

Upon approval from St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital, O&S provided engineering design services, including a thorough structural analysis to determine the most optimal repair approach. As part of the project, the heliport was to remain open for normal helicopter takeoff and landing operations. O&S designed adequate shoring required to keep the helipad operational during construction.

A full set of design and construction specifications documents were prepared for the repair project. O&S also provided technical supervision throughout the construction process. The project was completed in July 2024.
