Military Park Parking Garage, NJ Performing Arts Center

The NJPAC parking garage is a three story underground parking facility accommodating approximately 1,200 cars. The garage has roughly 400,000 square feet of parking and is under the Military Park in downtown Newark. The structural system for the facility is cast-in-place conventionally reinforced concrete. After 40 years of service, the parking garage had extensively deteriorated structurally and was badly neglected by the City. The design/build team of O&S Associates developed a unique design and cost effective solution for the project. The renovation consisted of structural concrete repairs, new lighting system, structural modifications to accommodate a new elevator/escalator pavilion, new mechanical ventilation system, new plumbing systems, refurbishing the existing sprinkler system, new carbon monoxide monitoring system, new stair and exhaust/air intake kiosks in the park and renovation of sidewalks, new stone retaining walls and landscaping of the Park . Project cost, 8,900,000.
