O&S Associates was engaged by the City of Dayton to inspect the condition of the City Hall vaulted roof slab and framing which extends outside of the buildings footprint and supports the adjacent sidewalk areas along Ludlow Street. We found that the roof structural slab and several beams were in a state of disrepair. Furthermore, we performed preliminary structural calculations on the existing structural vault slab to estimate the as-built load bearing capacity of the slab and found that the structural slab is not adequate to support current code required loads.

O&S designed a new replacement structural vault slab and new concrete beams which required shoring of the concrete foundation wall along Ludlow Street. O&S provided technical supervision and reviewed RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings throughout the duration of the project.

As part of this project, O&S also designed ADA compliant access to the Ludlow Street entrance which consisted of a new concrete ramp, stairs and landing, and installation of a mechanical wheelchair lift inside.
