Construction Support Services

Maitra provided civil design and construction support services for the rehabilitation and partial replacement of five (5) major Outfalls with associated culverts at JFK International Airport. The project involved survey and relocation of JFK utilities, design of a stormwater diversion during construction, necessary approvals and permits from Army Corps of Engineers and the DEP, plus approvals from the PA governing environmental departments.

The project was initiated with a study of the existing culvert and outfall conditions and advanced to development of construction documents, bid and award. The Outfalls range from triple box culverts to single large diameter pipes. Design consideration included vehicle loading, staging area selection and procedures for contractors work for diversion of stormwater. The area of work is adjacent to an active runway.

Services were performed by Maitra Associates, PC; an affiliate of O&S Associates, Inc.
