O&S completed an inspection and evaluation of the suspension frame curtain wall systems of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center for the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh & Allegheny County. The program included assessment of the elaborate column-less suspended curtain wall structure and building envelope components. The assessment was completed via extensive vertical access from swing scaffolding, high reaches, and drones that enabled O&S to assess virtually the entirety of the massive building envelope square footage. O&S identified deficient conditions that required repair and maintenance that was then developed into a building envelope repair program that is currently being bid for construction by the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh & Allegheny County.

The assessment and design program were completed on schedule and under budget. O&S also assisted the SEA to develop an ongoing inspection protocol to identify potential deficient conditions early on to mitigate costly future repair needs. O&S engineers were also able to identify deficient original construction of the suspended building envelope that had been the cause of previous premature deterioration of components that will greatly reduce future repair needs
