New York City Announces Updates to the Local Law 126 Mandatory Parking Garage Inspections
The New York City Council recently adopted new Local Laws and Amendments related to Local Law 126 Periodic Inspection of Parking Structures (PIPS) for the five boroughs.
Proactive Inspection Program & Corrective Action Plan
Local Law 79 of 2024 (Intro No. 79-A) amends the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing a proactive inspection program for buildings.

Parking Structure Inspections
Local Law 71 of 2024 (Intro No. 231-A) amends the administrative code of the City of New York, in relation to increasing the frequency of parking structure inspections having Unsafe and Safe with Repair and/or Engineering Monitoring (SREM) conditions effective immediately.

Parking Structure Penalties
Local Law 70 of 2024 (Intro. No. 170-A) amends the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increased penalties for Department of Buildings violations issued to parking structures.
