The Lutheran General Hospital Complex required extensive exterior façade rehabilitation.
• O&S Associates performed a survey of the building’s exteriors using swing-stages and developed a repair program for the façades of all buildings.
• O&S prepared repair drawings and technical specifications, bid the work to specialty contractors and made periodic observations of construction.
• Exterior façade repairs was comprised of repair and replacement of corroded steel lintels, rebuilding of the corners, replacement of cracked and deteriorated brick masonry, the addition of epoxy grouted masonry ties, tuck-pointing of deteriorated mortar joints, caulking of selected windows and installation of temporary sidewalk protection/bridge.
• At Olson Plaza and Courtyards, the work consisted of removing deteriorated concrete and membrane, installing new waterproofing membrane and new stamped concrete and terrazzo paving. Work also included new ornamental perimeter railing and plaza lighting.
