The Ritz Carlton Hotel is more than 100 years old and is listed with the Historic Register. It is the former Girard Bank Building. The face is still the original marble, but is now showing signs of weathering, particularly at the architectural details that distinguish this building.
Philadelphia recently passed a façade law similar to New York’s, Boston’s, Columbus’, St. Louis’, and Chicago’s. O&S was hired to provide the engineering services to inspect the exterior walls and determine the best course of action to repair and maintain this prestigious façade.
O&S provided the inspections that were required and discovered that the marble was falling off the building. O&S developed a repair program to bring the building back to a safe condition. The estimated construction costs were $800,000. O&S is providing construction services for this project.
